Royal Borough Kensington Chelsea (RBKC) wanted to maximise the use of their meeting rooms. They wanted to reduce and repurpose unused space whilst increasing the availability of the spaces required to meet the current and future needs of the borough. They suspected that large rooms were being used by just a handful of colleagues whilst others were bursting at the seams. So, to tackle the problem they asked us to use our SmartSpace OS solution to measure, analyse and make recommendations to optimise their space.
To understand exactly how spaces were being used we installed smart sensors in every meeting room and measured the real occupancy over 3 months. We integrated with their room booking system to understand the relationship between planned and ad-hoc meetings. After the 3 months, we analysed the data and reported back to RBKC with the information they needed to understand their existing usage and help predict their future requirements.
Our comprehensive analysis and report highlighted the actions that RBKC could take, the benefits they would bring and how much they could save now and in the future.
