Contracts Manager

This position is responsible for supporting the business, primarily in achieving revenue growth through the provision of timely and informed support on client agreements, whilst reducing the Group’s exposure to legal and commercial risk.


Key responsibilities

  • Review, negotiate and draft standard and bespoke revenue generating agreements and related documentation for enterprise and commercial clients, ensuring an appreciation of the company’s desired outcomes (including commercial, legal and technical) and priorities of same
  • Review/negotiate/draft (as appropriate) all other types of contracts, agreements and related documentation across the business, including letters of intent, licenses, supplier agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and others as required
  • Participation in the client negotiation process and interface with clients thereafter regarding contract-related matters
  • Ensure up to date knowledge of relevant legal and contractual matters
  • Ensure understanding within the business of contractual terms and conditions and client specifications to ensure internal compliance thereof
  • Create and maintain standard agreement templates
  • Develop contracts management workflow
  • Respond positively and in a timely manner to internal requests for contract-related support and in so-doing, establish a reputation for expert knowledge and partnership working
  • Maintain the signed contracts repository and associated systems, using consistent standards for data entry and document storage and backup
  • Create and prepare documentation, reports, and tracking mechanisms to support contract management activities
  • Network within the legal/software space and feedback relevant information to ensure the business remains ahead of the curve on pertinent matters
  • Ensure protection of company intellectual property and trademarks


Needs to know and have  

  • LLB or equivalent legal qualification
  • A number of years’ experience interpreting, drafting, negotiating and managing commercial agreements within a SaaS business ideally or other software/technology environment
  • Familiarity with business software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AdobeSign
  • Good commercial judgement in determining how to prioritise competing tasks to effectively support the business
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Up to date knowledge of data privacy matters and of data privacy requirements on agreements across the business, including internal compliance
  • Great relationship-building skills
  • Personal credibility
